Outstanding Foaming Hand Soap / DIY
A little hand slides the soap bottle closer to the edge of the counter. A tiny figure stands on her tippy toes to quickly pump the soap. From the moment she begins to scrub her small palms, the soap slides off and into the sink. She proceeds to rub the soap in her hands, and before it even suds up, she rinses off whatever soap managed to stay on her hands and grabs the towel to rapidly dry her hands before sprinting out of the bathroom and back to her dolls.
As a mama, I want my kids to wash their hands well, yet, I knew I didn’t want to have to oversee every hand washing throughout the day. Therefore, I needed a soap I was confident would do the job no matter how quickly or skilled they were at scrubbing their small hands. A foaming hand soap was the solution to my problem. Why?
It is already foaming so they don’t have to scrub in order to get it lathered up.
It doesn’t slide of my kids’ hands as easily as liquid/gel soap does.
It easily works its way onto every part of their tiny hands with minimal effort on their part.
It is much easier than a bar of soap for little hands.
Foaming hand soap has transformed my kids’ hand washing routines and it gives me much more peace of mind that they are actually getting clean!
We also use this foaming hand soap as a body wash for the kids. It is easy for them to be independent in scrubbing themselves up in the shower even at the age of three and four. They are proud to be able to do it on their own and it makes a small portion of my life that much easier. Ha!

You can put together all different kinds of essential oils to create your favorite scents for your soap, but these are my favorite ones!
My Favorite Essential Oils for Foaming Soap
Sweat Orange & Vanilla (my all-time favorite)
Lavendar & Vanilla (my favorite for baby shampoo & body wash)
Sandalwood or Pine Needle (for a more earthy/manly smell)
Outstanding Foaming Hand Soap
4 oz. Liquid Castile Soap
8 oz. Spring or Distilled Water (see notes)
Essential Oils of your choice
Directions:
Place a 12 oz foaming hand soap bottle on a kitchen scale. Pour 4 oz of castile soap into the bottle. Add your favorite essential oils (how much you add will vary on the type of oils you are using and your preference on how strong you want your soap to smell). Zero out your scale and add 8 oz. spring/distilled water to the bottle. Place the lid on and shake well. You will want to shake your bottle often. Technically, it’s supposed to be before every use, but my little ones and/or company don’t do that, and it still maintains great foam and smell. I just shake it a few times throughout the day.
Notes*
You will want to use spring or distilled for this soap as it will keep the soap from spoiling as quickly. I usually just get mine by the gallon at Walmart.
Every time a little hand slides the soap bottle closer to the edge of the counter and lifts her tiny figure onto her tippy toes to quickly pump soap onto her small palms, I am confident in her ability to clean her hands successfully with this foaming hand soap recipe! It is a must have in our home.
